Week 4: Cyclebar Fresno

Week 4: Cyclebar Fresno

I had a blast trying out Cyclebar Fresno for a week - I’ll definitely be back! The classes are high energy: almost a combination between a dance party, a motivational speech, and a workout.

I felt really weird the first class because you are clipped in to your bike. That was my first time clipping in and it made me feel really stuck. After the first class though, I got over that and by the end of my 4 classes I was able to clip in and out without anyone’s help (WIN! - HA!).

The instructors are all phenomenal: welcoming and encouraging. They really care about you having a great experience and feeling comfortable. (Natalie was so fun and even let me interview her!)

The workouts are TOUGH but I was never sore the next day (other than being sore from sitting on the bike seat). You totally feel the burn, but I didn’t feel the same day-after-burn that I feel with other workouts. I sweat a TON during Cyclebar classes, an insane amount, way more sweat than running or Crossfit. I needed at least 2 or 3 towels.

Overall Lessons Learned:

  1. Call the gym first to see what specials they have for newbies before buying a Groupon. The Groupon that I found was a decent deal, but the specials that Cyclebar Fresno are running right now for new riders were even better deals.

  2. Take the free intro class! Cyclebar Fresno offers a class for newbies that goes over (what I’m assuming) bike basics. I should have taken it because I was still learning things about the bikes after my 4th class.

  3. It’s fun with a friend. Like most things, this week was more fun because I had a friend going with me. However, the classes are loud and solo - you don’t get to chat much so don’t let not having someone to go with hold you back from trying it. Don’t be scared to go alone.
